Shoot VI - "NH Waterfalls"

Were you thinking New Hampshire? Actually, I had driven by that bridge but didn't stop. It is on my to-do list when I visit VT next August. Well, NH was on the minds of Carol, Milt, Joani, Elaine, and Jim W.

Speaking of NH, several photo enthusiasts from Stony Brook Camera Club planned a shoot along the Kancamagus Highway over the Memorial Day weekend last year  After breakfast on Saturday morning, we were off to check out the Sabbaday Falls. I have photographed these falls before and looked forward to the different photo ops along the trail to set up my tripod.

"Sabbaday Falls, NH"

(shot at f/11 for 1/2 second)

One year I came up to these falls during the winter - a totally different experience and view.

Shoot V - "Borne National Cemetery"

Were you thinking Indiana? I wasn't for sure! However, Milt (you remember him from early last year?), Michelle, Joani, and Mommy Beth were zoned in to Indiana.

May was a busy month for my camera as I managed to get out on four separate occasions to shoot. This third time was a somber one. Someone from one of my camera clubs mentioned help was needed to plant flags at the Bourne National Cemetery before Memorial Day. I had the time and thought I could be a help. What I didn't know was that there would be more than several hundred others planning on lending a hand as well

After a brief memorial service of music and presentations, we headed off to the various sections to plant 10,000 flags. I did manage to find twelve markers that had not be patriotically adorned.

I called this, "A Mother's Sacrifice." We know of the thousands of Mothers who saw their sons and daughters head off to war but how about a Mother who gave her time and talents to keep our freedoms. Here's a thank you to all who have served our country!

Shoot IV - "EAA Fly-in"

So, how did you do? It was Kansas
For me, it was Eisenhower that gave it away (although he wasn't born there).  Carol and Mommy Beth knew KS while Mommy BethDoris and Joani both voiced their opinion about color or monochromatic. Maybe I should have used Dorothy's comment to Toto, "We're not in..."

A few towns over from me, there is a small airfield - and, I use that term very loosely! Cranland Airport is on Rte. 58 in Hanson. If you are not sure of its exact location, you will drive by it.

Well, every third Sunday from April to October, the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Assoc.) has this gathering, a fly-in. On a good day somewhere between twenty-five and forty planes will grace the airstrip and surrounding grounds starting as early as 8 AM. The Fly-in is a fund raiser where the organizers host a pancake breakfast for a mere $5.

While a good majority of the aircraft tends to be of the Piper Cub genre, I have been there for some bi-planes, a WWII transport, a helicopter, and some home-made airborne crafts. I use the fly-ins to practice my panning techniques. By noontime, the planes start to make their return flights.

If you are planning on showing up, check the weather. There will be days when the number of arrivals will be at a minimal because of atmospheric conditions. For this seaplane departure, I had a wonderfully colorful aircraft against an interesting sky.

Shoot Three II - "Boston! II"

So, how did you do? It was Minnesota
Remember "Little House on the Prairie?" And, I am guessing being the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" might help to drive up those coastline numbers! Carol, Joani, Elaine, Mommy Beth, and Doris knew MN. Also heard from Michelle with a couple of guesses and Mike P.

Still in Boston because I wanted to check out the Christian Science Monitor area since it was a short walk from the library.
I have seen some amazing images of this structure. On my photo lifelist is to return some evening to shoot this place at night!

Bear with me - when I was choosing the picture to share with you I was torn between the color and the B&W. I went back and forth and finally decided you were getting BOTH! Hey, it is my blog!!
