“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever…it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”

Along the Appian Way
While in Rome, the city proper was being “shut down” due to
the canonization of John Paul. Police and travel restrictions were everywhere.
Our scheduled private tour of the Vatican was cancelled. So what to do and
where to go? I did remember reading about the Appian Way – the ancient system
of roads that ran out of Rome throughout the country. Using the city’s subway system, we managed to get ourselves
to the outskirts and the Appian Way. Archeologists have maintained the structures
along the Way so that you got a sense of the importance of this vital link to
and from Rome.
As we walked along taking in the sights, I noticed the
clouds. They had character – there was detail in them. At this one point they
were strung across the sky with these ruins nestled below.
I still remember those clouds. . .
Several commented on the lighthouse stairway (one thought it would make a great print - I'll look into that) while the rest enjoyed the Bonus Image - Deana, EMO, Phil, Michelle, Mrs. Vicky, Jeff W., Joani, Peyton, and Tony.
