Shoot XII - "Stowe, VT II"

Were you thinking Texas? I figured the rodeo clue might have been the give-away. Or, even the ranch larger than Little Rhody? For me, it was Buddy Holly! Its most popular nickname is, the Lone Star State. Also, thinking big with Texas were Carol, Elaine, Mike Di, Milt, Peyton, Doris, and Joani!

"Nostalgia"

Still on Shoot Twelve, Vermont. A side trip to the ever-popular and quaint town of Woodstock found us looking through its general store. Around a corner near the rear of the store was this glass-enclosed case. What caught my eye was the variety of items they had and the condition of the packaging. Even though I had pleaded and groveled with the store manager to open the case doors, it didn't work. Shooting through the glass doors is becoming one of my strengths of late.

Shoot XII - "Stowe, VT"

Were you thinking Tennessee, the Volunteer State? Been to Great Smoky National Park and knew it was the most popular - also, drove past Dollywood! Well TN was on the minds of Carol, Milt, Joani, Peyton, and Michelle - I am so proud to count you among my blog followers!

When this vehicle pulled around the corner leading into downtown Stowe, VT, my first and ONLY thought that came to mind was, "Driving Miss Daisy!" Shoot Twelve is another one of those events that I have attended many times in the past - the VAE!

The Vermont Auto Enthusiasts come together in Stowe each August. All around town you will see hundreds of antique vehicles parked at motels, restaurants, and on Main Street. And, then the two hour parade down Mountain Road!

"Driving Miss Daisy and Miss Lily"

Since there were two women in the rumble seat, I figured Miss Daisy must have brought her friend, Miss Lily, along! Perhaps, this image might lead to a sequel of the classic movie???

Shoot XI - "Wheels of Time"

Were you thinking WA? Starbucks probably gave it away, right? For Joani, it was not too hard as she lives in the "Evergreen State!" Others who knew were Peyton, Carol, Mike Di., and Michelle.

"It's a Studebaker!"

The antique car collector group, "Wheels of Time" took over the local parish parking lot with their favorite pastime - their cars! In the past I have focused on trying to capture the entire car while trying to keep out the other curious on-lookers. This is next to impossible as there never seems to be a quiet moment at the more popular vehicles and also there is never enough room to get the entire car into the frame. So I decided to key on some of the intricate facets of these vehicles. I used this theme for the next three antique car shoots. I put some of my favorite partials in a folder on my website called, "Car-tifacts!

This week's image was of the classic Avanti, a sporty passenger car made by Studebaker. It was reported to have reached speeds of 170 mph! Certainly wasn't clocked at that speed in Dorchester!

Shoot X - "Holmes Farm"

Were you thinking Montana? Totally clueless with MT but with five ghost towns, it has made my lifelist! Those who chimed in for the "Big Sky State" were Milt, Mike Di., Peyton, Carol, Doris, Joani, and Mommy Beth!

"Holmes Farm Barn"

My third July 2014 shoot was with one of the meet-up groups. The Holmes Farm in Plymouth was the scheduled spot. After a few laps around the property, I came back to the barn. I checked out the various possibilities of the other sides and settled on this. I think it was the late morning sun that cast a few shadows on the peeling paint of the barn board.
