Shoot Fifteen - Marshfield Fair

"Demo Derby Time!"

It was late August of 2016 when several of us decided to shoot the Marshfield Fair at night for Shoot Fifteen. We got over there early enough to get some late afternoon captures of the Demolition Derby. For some reason I went off on my own and left Jeff the W to feign for himself. Well he wound up in the press box overlooking the entire demo pit while I was scurrying around to find a vantage point.

Lesson learned, Jeff knows how to get things done!

This was another image where I wanted to have some fun with the post-processing. I was leaning toward a comic book look and I think I got it.

Copenhagen, not so easy, eh? Heard from Mike Di, Jim, Milt, Peyton, Elaine, Doris, Carol, Michelle, and Tony. also, long time follower but first-time responded, Lisa Daria!

"MIT Stairwell"

Finishing up Shoot Fourteen with this slightly lit stairwell next to the Stata Center. Not sure why I took this in the first place - perhaps, it was the angle I had or the interesting glow from that end of the building. I'm not even sure what the function of this structure was - dorm? library? labs?

The city is famous for the Royal Museum. This marvelous museum was built in the year 1910 and is adorned with brilliant statues of people and various events of the city and houses the largest totem pole in the world. This totem pole is over 100 years old.

the eight islands of the city together have about 568 acres of parkland. Of the parklands in this city, the one that stands out is Watt’s Island as only pedestrians are allowed on the streets of this island.

You may also visit the Casa Loma. A picture of European elegance and charm, the Casa Loma was home to financier Sir Henry Pellatt. This castle is a veritable maze, with its secret passages, towers, stables, and even a tunnel measuring 800ft. The castle has a beautiful 5-acre garden, which is open to the public from May to October.

the residents of this city not only love their pets, but also take them very seriously. Called PawsWay — Pet Discovery Center is dedicated only to dogs and cats. This center is one of a kind. The Center strives to promote pet-keeping in the city, while also making people aware of their duties as a responsible pet-owner. PawsWay even has a coffee shop inside its complex where the owners and their pets can eat and drink together.

"Stata Dorms - Rear View"

As I mentioned last week, these buildings (not sure if I should refer to them as buildings) were strange from the street and even weirder from the back. This was taken from a small gathering spot in the back. 

I wonder what the architects and builders were thinking when they first saw these plans?

I did take some liberties (after all it is MY blog) with the post-processing of this one. However, that was the sky when I tripped my shutter.

One of the oldest cities in Europe is still one of the cities that is considered to have the best quality of life.

The city is situated on the islands of Zealand and Amager.

It’s one of the more highly developed countries as it is a major regional center of business, media, science and culture.

It’s considered as one of the very environmentally friendly cities because its harbor can be swum in and about a third of the city’s people use bicycles as their means of transportation.

In their downtown area, the places to visit and to be entertained at are the Tivoli gardens and the Town Hall Square.

If you want the very cultural and scenic areas the places to see are the Marble church, the Rosenborg castle, and the Christiansborg.

This should do it: And if there’s one thing you shouldn’t miss, it’s the statue of The Little Mermaid sculpted by Edvard Erichsen.

Hong Kong - Fragrant Harbor, really? Well, Milt, Carol, Michelle, and Jim thought so. Someone did mention that they were having an issue with responding to the blog. Not sure why that is happening.

"MIT Parking Garage"

For #14, I got a chance to shoot some architecture - buildings that have long been on my life list! The Stata Center at MIT is a complex of several uniquely designed structures! First glimpse looks as if they are in total disrepair, about to tumble as soon as a large truck rumbles by.

A handful of HDP club members made an evening of walking around the center trying to find the right angle (lost cause these buildings were all about angles and very few of them right)! I probably spent the first fifteen minutes in awe of what was before me. Soon I had my trusty tripod out and began to click away. 

A walk around the back of this complex opened up a totally different set of nooks and crannies - yes, I shot them as well!

Shoot Thirteen - Vermont

Moscow - that large complex was, of course, the Kremlin! Checking in were Mariann, Carol (with Moscow pix), Milt, Michelle, Peyton, Elaine, Mike and Doris.

"Fisher RR Bridge"

Shoot #13 finds me in Vermont for another annual activity - time share. For the past thirty years we have been making the drive to Stowe, VT and the Von Trapp properties.

Each year I try to find something around the area of great interest. Last year I did shoot about a dozen covered bridges. This year I returned to Fisher RR Bridge with my fisheye lens for some fun.

I shot a few dozen images of this covered bridge - I changed my viewpoint, used both portrait and landscape orientation, and went in fairly tight. I have a few that I do like. This one was processed with HDR, Here is an interior shot in B&W.
