# 248 - Reflections. . .

“Photographing a culture in the here and now often means photographing the intersection of the present with the past.”

Room with a View

What attracted my attention was the color of the Caribbean – it was spectacular and clear!

This room is in the Dry Tortugas National Park - one huge brick fort that was once used as a prison. It is probably one of the most remote of our national parks as it is about a two-hour catamaran ride off Key West, FL! The infamous Dr. Mudd, who assisted John Wilkes Booth when he was injured, was incarcerated here. This room was actually his jail cell! Yes, it did have bars on it when it was in use but can you imagine waking up to this view each morning?

Deana, Phil, Michelle, and Joani all checked in this morning,
thanks. . .
