Day Ninety - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Another month gone by the boards and I'm still hanging in there.

I told you I'd end the month with a few easy ones and all of you nailed the bar code - Phil, EMO, Milt, Carol, Peyton, Mike Di., Joyce, Mike P., Michelle, and Tony!

Here is my small way of saying thanks for playing along with the Numbers Challenge. . .

It's your daily response that keeps me posting!

Day Eighty-nine - "Strictly by the Numbers" . . .

Today I have to compete with the Easter Bunny for your undivided attention. I would have had better luck if it had been the Groundhog from Punxsutawney!

Well, Happy Easter just the same. . .

For those of us who do shoot digitally, they were compact flash cards. The numbers reflect the size of the cards in GB and the speed it uses to write the pix - 133x.

Membership in this blog will be maintained by Milt, Peyton, Beth, Tony, Michael K., Phil, Joyce, and Mike Di. There was ONE of you who will be on probation and you know who you are. . .

To finish off the Numerical Challenges for March. . .

Day Eighty-seven - "Strictly by the Numbers" . . .

What happened? I threw out a set of numbers from the old Dewey Decimal System and most of you panicked! Most of you were trained on that library system. "784" was music "L" was the author.

Only Peyton and Mike Di. knew it was numbering on a book. Mike gets the Gold Star for identifying it as the Dewey Decimal!!

Let's finish the month on a few easy ones - don't want to lose my following! Numbers close to our heart!!!

Day Eighty-six - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

It was our clock radio. Someone tried to figure out the station on which it was set. Since it is our wake-up call, it is on WBZ-Am 1030.

Good call, Phil, EMO, Michelle, Peyton, Michael K., Milt, Deana, Tony, and Mike Di.

As March winds down so does my Numerical Challenge!

Day Eighty-five - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Good call (Mike P., EMO, Michelle, Carol, Phil, Milt, Michael K., Mike Di., Joani, and Joyce) on the limited edition numbers from yesterday. It was another one of those Sebastian figurines for Lancaster Bible College.

I think the rest of the month should be fairly easy to figure out so let's end March on a very successful note! See what I mean -

Day Eighty-four - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

What do these numbers mean?

As for our metric quiz, most of you figured out it was another way of showing a gallon! Now, what products do we purchase that would be sold by the gallon? We had milk (Michelle, Joani, and Michael K.). Tony was thinking OJ while Milt was at the pumps with gasoline! Peyton knew it was a gallon but not sure what.

No one went for another obvious one - paint. I thought the odd look for the liters image would have you thinking in that direction.

Day Eighty-three - "Strictly by the Numbers. . .

Okay, so you know your way around the kitchen! My only physical contact with these implements for cooking would be to wash and dry them! Do you like the way I fanned them out - pretty impressive shot if I must say so myself!

To our Blogging Gourmets - Joyce, Peyton, Phil, Michelle, Steph, Michael K., Carol, Tony, Joani, Mike Di., Vicky, EMO, and Milt - congratulations! You know your measuring cups!

Let's toughen up the challenge. After you convert this to non-metric, tell me where this label might be found. I will accept all reasonable answers as I have been reprimanded by those judges more than once!

Day Eighty-two - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

So geometry wasn't the best subject for many of you as only four (Michelle, Tony, Mike Di., and Phil) recognized the protractor. Several did see it as a scale and we had one blood pressure guess.

At least no one saw the numbers as a Mayan prediction or thought they were the winning numbers for Powerball!

Lt's get this challenge back to reality. I had better see everyone with the correct answer, er no???

Day Eighty-one - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Well, it's working, I have someone of you looking under rocks, checking for potential hints in the pictures, even referring to the Bible to solve these numerical clues! One of you actually read the numbers on the weights as 2 - 2- 15. Having Googled the date and nothing appeared, he or she, checked out the Bible and found a well-placed verse in Proverbs. For the rest of you (Michelle, Phil, Joyce, Tony, Beth, Steph, Peyton, and Vicky) they were dumbbells - you pick them up and you put them down!

Oh, that verse? From Proverbs 22-15, "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from." Do you think this was directed toward me???

Let's move onto Day 81. . .

These numbers are striking fear into the hearts of a few of you!!!

Day Eighty - "Strictly by the Numbers" . . .

According to my abacus, there are only CCLXXXV more postings until December 31st!

I am impressed with your retention of Roman Numerals. As I mentioned I had the most difficult time finding any to shoot other than those on a church clock. The two I listed were from a trip to Italy. Here is 1734. . .

And, 1902. . .

Everyone recognized the letters as Roman Numerals - Michael K., Peyton, Beth, Phil, Joani, Tony, Michelle, Joyce, Mike Di., and Milt with Michael K., Beth, and Peyton solving one of the sets of letters. However, Tony, Michelle, and Mike Di. knew both of them!

Here you go - and I'm not looking for them to be added up either!

Day Seventy-nine - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

This was an unfair numerical posting as my photo-followers eat, sleep, and drink f/stops. However, one photo friend did not know what it was. She has since turned in her camera club membership card!

F/stop smarties were Michelle, Phil, Peyton, Joyce, Tony, Michael K., Deana, Steph, Carol, and Joani. I do expect Mike Di to come through in a few hours as well! Heard from Mike and Milt late last night.

Oh, #79? Sorry to keep you waiting. . .

Someone this evening remarked how fortunate I have been to have almost all of the past seventy-seven images in my house. Today's was also in my home but I did have to dig through my archives to find it. I honestly spent considerable time looking at older buildings' cornerstones, grave markings, and copyright dates in old books with no luck - hence the archives!

Maybe this one is easier. . .

Day Seventy-eight - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Well, that one certainly got your attention! No, they are not  the gas prices of any place around here even though the gas board was shot in Bridgewater Center on Tuesday but then PhotoShop came in to play - hence the numbers moved around. Here's the original:

A huge sigh of relief was detected! We did have a couple of followers guess these were the prices per liter. While several were concerned with, "These are not from around here!" Dating himself, one other thought they were the prices of the 70s. So here are today's winners: Phil, Steph, Carol, Peyton, Milt, Joyce, Michael K., Michelle, Mike Di., Tony, EMO, and Joani.

On to today's. . .

Shouldn't be too hard for many of my bloggers. . .

Day Seventy-seven - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Moving along. . .

Sign of things to come? I hope not!!

No, I did not know the gentleman who was buried under that headstone as it was more of a coincidence that I needed something numerical and it was for March 19th! Emo, Phil, Michael K., Michelle, Peyton, Tony, Joyce, Carol, and Joani (welcome back) figured it was somebody's headstone - one Sylvanus H. Caldwell.

Day Seventy-six - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

The responders are starting to grow in numbers again. I am encouraged. For those of you who still use paper folding money, here is what I posted on Day Seventy-five. . .

I know, it didn't look this obvious yesterday - get over it! Michelle, Milt, Tony, and Phil recognized the greenbacks. We did have some good guesses from Vicky, Steph, and Joyce.

Here is a timely one. . .

Day Seventy-five - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

That was  a little better in the number of respondents. Let's see if I can tempt a few more on today's numerology. These numbers have a common bond, what is it?

As for Day Seventy-four, we did have a couple of really good guesses but it was a thermometer! One of those mercury based instruments.

Peyton, Phil, Mike Di., Beth, and Michelle recognized it from the numbers posted. Tony, Milt, Steph, and Joyce get silver stars!

Day Seventy-four - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Where have all my followers gone? Was it a national holiday of some sorts? Or, are you just too tired to play anymore? Remember, my esteemed panel of judges will accept reasonable answers. . .

Yesterday's two-parter came from my old movie camera with the circular set of numbers being frames per second and the rectangular numbers for the footage left on the reel. Peyton and Milt managed to nail it while Phil, Joyce, and Mike Di came up with "reasonable answers."

Let's see how many of you might have encountered these numbers in your life. I'm guessing ALL of you!

Day Seventy-three - "Strictly by the Numbers" . . .

Must be some sort of holiday as the responses were fairly sparse today! I know it wasn't the challenge as the word COPR was there with the number. Yes, it was a copyright date for a figurine I used to collect. Here's the character, "Dilemma, the Purple Cow."

We did have six (Beth, Phil, Michelle, Milt, Ted, and Peyton) correctly identify it as a copyright date but Beth and Milt get extra credit for actually identifying it as "Dilemma!" Michelle knew it was  a Sebastian figurine and Ted get partial credit for just being Ted!

Let's see what Good Old #73 has in store. . .

Wait, there's a second part to #73

So how are these numbers connected? What ONE device would feature these settings??

Day Seventy-two - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

This is what the "99 Restaurant" looks like after three margaritas! Not sure how they figured it out but Michael K., Carol, Milt, Michelle, Steph, Vicky, Joyce, Peyton, Phil, Ted, and Mike Di did!! This is it should be seen. . .

And, here is today's challenge. I continue to meet others who follow my blog but don't respond. How about chiming in on one of these?

Day Seventy-one - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Another glitch today! Not sure why the blog gets out some days better than others.  Let's hope this one gets to you on time. . .

Yeh, pretty easy! Well, the bridge limit load sign was easily recognized by Ted, Phil, EMO, Carol, Michelle, Steph, and Mike Di. I have a feeling a few more will be answering in the morning.

Day Seventy - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

From your responses, many of you have experienced the "T" collection boxes at various parking facilities and, it appears all of you have paid your fair share. A "T" token for Michael P., Beth, Phil, Peyton, EMO, Carol, Milt, Vicky, Steph, Michelle, Joyce, Marainn, Michael K., and Mike Di.

This is what you would have found in the Bridgewater Commuter Rail parking lot! My little brother thanks you for your support toward his "T" salary!

So for today - please do NOT adjust your computer screens. . .

Day Sixty-nine - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Bravo! Take a bow!! Proud of all of you for recognizing the Speed Limit sign. Now, with a show of hands, how many of you actually obey it? Hmm, not that many!! Well, here's something else that should be obeyed but isn't on occasion. . .

I've named this "Honesty Is the Best Policy!"

So the Speed Limit sign's effect was done in PhotoShop using one of the blur tools.

The kudos go out to Steph, Phil, HGT, Mike Di., Michael K., Carol, Peyton, Michelle, Milt, Ted, and Joyce.

Day Sixty-eight - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

By now you should be realizing the importance of numbers in our day, right? I asked my class to try to spend the entire day without using numbers - math was skipped this day. They didn't last an hour before numbers creeped into their conversations! Try it - no looking at the clock, dialing numbers, changing channels on the TV, etc.

Well for Day 68, I did the unusual, I went outside - actually left the house and shot some numbers. Fairly easy one - technique credit goes to Mike O' C.

I did expect you to name those town that were listed on the zip codes strip - kidding. A few did recognize some. As a former 20-hr. regular for the U. S. Post Office, I knew all of the 021 codes (referred to as the Stations). Well done Michael K., EMO, Tony, Michael P., Peyton, Carol, Beth, Joyce, Phil, Milt, Michelle, Vicky, and HGT!

Day Sixty-seven - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Way to go, super sleuths! The number for #66 was the August, 2013 calendar!! Here'a page from. . .

Among our super sleuths we have EMO, Milt, Carol, Michelle, Tony, Phil, Beth, Steph, Ted, Mike Di., Peyton, Michael K., and Joyce! I am so proud of all of you - it almost, note almost, brings a tear to my eye!

Day Sixty-six - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Maybe, I should have given you more to go on as the "45" was very unfair of me. We did have some great guesses - branding, stamp, a mold, etc. It was actually the printer's block used in advertising. In this case "45 RPM" records!

Well done, Phil, Carol, Michelle, EMO, Ted, Peyton, Steph, and Joyce.

How about an easy one - I do need the month, though. . .

(Hint: the 5th is a Monday!)

Day Sixty-five - "Strictly by the Numbers". . .

Of course, it was  a license plate but which state? I left two clues on it - the state flag (tough one) and the state motto.

What do we have for today??? What can you surmise from this number???

So, kudos go out to those who knew it was Alaska's plate: Peyton, Michael K., Ted, Joani, Vicky, Milt, and Mike Di. and Steph's husband! Phil, EMO, Michelle, and Carol did know it was a license plate. And, Ted even emailed his own AK plate!!
