Dec 25th

Washington, DC - another gimmee, right?
Heard from Jim, Elaine, Milt, Joani, Michelle, Peyton, and Mike!

"Ho! Ho!! Ho!!!"

In early December my church holds its annual Holly Fair where crafters from the parish display their wares for us to purchase. My favorite has been Pat's amazing jams - the flavors are tempting (I bought six different ones)!

There are raffles, cookies and baked goods, and a wide variety of items to suit whatever is your fancy.

Santa is extremely busy as he is part of the "Breakfast with Santa" and available for requests - I have seen several adults on his lap with long lists!

Where in the World?

Better get out the atlas as this year I will be featuring some of the more famous cities of the world! Here are some interesting facts about one of them. Just what city would I be visiting?

One of the largest cities in the world

It is also one of the most populous cities of the world. It also has the distinction of having the maximum number of museums in the world.

Tourists often refer to it as the ‘city of palaces.’ This is because of the numerous State buildings that can be found in this capital city.

One of the most important areas is Plaza de la Constitucion. Counted among one of the largest squares in the world, this city landmark is surrounded by several historic buildings.

if you want to see its historical sights, then you can visit the Xochimilco. The Xochimilco is a huge network of waterways and flower gardens.

Final hint: Basilica de Guadalupe is considered to be one of the holiest places by the Catholics all around the world. The Basilica de Guadalupe sees pilgrims in large numbers around December 12 every year. This shrine is also said to guard the shroud of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Dec 18th - Scituate Moon Rise

Dallas "Big D" was on the minds of Peyton, Jim, Mike, Milt, Joani, Michelle, and Elaine.

"Scituate Moon Rise"

Tonight there was supposed to be a "supermoon" in our area. So I met up with a few members of HDP and headed for Scituate Harbor. I was amazed that there were only three (3) cars in the parking lot! So I opened up my tripod; messed around with some of the settings; and took a few test shots.

When I turned around I was shocked at the "full" parking lot. Just where did they come from and when did this start to fill up. Before you knew it every square foot of real estate along the edge of the lot had been claimed!

I was not thrilled with the images I got but I managed to salvage this one and converted it to B&W.

Dec 11th Scarecrow Challenge

Melbourne as Elaine, Michelle, Milt, Mike, and Peyton knew. Joani was about a half a hemisphere away! Welcome first time responder, Ed.

"Kenwood Tire Display"

For the past four years the Lions Club of West Bridgewater has been conducting a scarecrow competition. At first only businesses were involved in the prizes but then private residences joined in.

This one from the Kenwood Tire Company was my personal favorite - not sure how it fared against some stiff competition. Mega-points for creativity and great use of the company's main source of revenue - tires!

Dec 4th WB Museum

Mardid - well Milt, Mike, Tony, Peyton and Pete checked in!

"Traffic Signals of the Past"

Somebody had the vision to take a 1915 fire barn and convert it into a town museum.

After several months of clearing out the clutter of the past and sprucing up the interior and exterior of the building, the West Bridgewater Museum emerged!

Located behind the town hall, the eighteen hundred sq. ft. structure houses an 1942 Chevy fire truck (on loan from Chief Len Hunt), memorabilia from former restaurants, town departments, and a very encompassing milk bottle collection - about 38 in total.

The private stash of WB milk bottles represented the many (I counted about fourteen) diary farms that called West Bridgewater home.

I am not sure of the hours of operation for the museum at this time.
